25.8.2007: SOUND OF SPEED/SALZBURGRING, LOTUS 47 GT-71 POPS UP AGAIN,

Just to please ourselves a bit, some FFoundation people went to watch "Sound of Speed" car racing at Salzburgring. And what a lovely event it was with a lot of classic race cars attending. Most of the owners grasped the opportunity to stretch their car"s abilities to the limit. All in complete safety.

Besides meeting Mr. Helmut Diehl, Treasurer of the ADAC, Lotus racer and Co-organiser of this special day, the other highlight was the resurfacing of the only Lotus 47GT that has lived in Austria in it"s old days. #71, the so-called Horst Mundschitz car. Although it was unable to race (clutch stuck) on the day, - for us it was just the thing to see at the location. The standard of the painstaking restoration is an amazing credit to its current German owner. No wonder that the British think and say: "A Kraut should not own such a car!"

Looking back to the time when I came past this very car sitting in the small Lotus workshop of Horst Rudolf Müller (Musilplatz, 16th district of Vienna) on my everyday way to school and not being able to buy it, still gives me some sentimental emotions today.
Nevertheless its: "Congratulation to it"s owner/restorer!"
